I've read some later Patterson novels and thought I'd read something earlier. When I saw he'd won the Edgar award for best first novel, I picked this one; sorry I did. I really struggled to stay engaged. Several times I was ready to give it up and return it to the library. I really wanted to see why this won the award so I perceviered and finished it. I even reread the last chapter to see if I'd missed something. I didn't enjoy this one at all. ( )

James Patterson is good writer so I'm surprised he hasn't pulled this one. Granted, I only got about half throught, but I still hadn't understand anything. ( )

Had this been the first Patterson novel I had read, it would have been the last. Not good!! ( )
