Not quite as good as the original GUNS OF NAVARONE, but pretty darned entertaining anyway. It's particularly enjoyable watching the grizzled combat vets Mallory, Miller, and Andrea outwit and outclass the gung-ho young Commandoes.

Niet lang nadat Keith Mallory, Andrea en Dusty Miller de kanonnen van Navarone tot zwijgen hebben gebracht, landen zij in Joegoslavië voor een tweede opdracht.
Dit keer moeten zij een divisie partizanen uit een val van de Duitsers redden. Bovendien moeten zij de Duitsers wijsmaken dat er een invasie in Joegoslavië op handen is, opdat de Duitsers troepen van het Italiaanse front terugtrekken. De sleutel voor het slagen van deze dubbele missie is de vernietiging van de strategische dam in de Neretva, die door de Duitsers wordt verdedigd als een fort. This is a strange book. The sequel novel ties in partly to the movie, with some of the characters, but pretty much sticks with the backstory and other information found in the Guns of Navarone.

As such, it is a bit on the problematic side, and definitely not anywhere as tense, exciting or well done.
