This book is an all-time classic! This is one of the greatest stories EVER told. I recently learned that Suess wrote this book on a dare that he could only use 50 words in a book. His repetition throughout this book helped him win that bet. The repetition also helps kids learn words. The more they see them and hear them, the more familiar they become with these words.

And his illustrations are just as great as the text. The characters are funny looking cat like people. But what makes them great is their ever changing facial expressions. You can always sense the mood of a Seuss character simply by looking at the expression or body language of the character. Sometimes, the illustration moves from one page over to the next, but it is not a true double page layout. The text is always placed neatly in the white space of the picture.

I love this book and think that every parent should read it to their children over and over again! ( )

A Classical storybook for children.

Green Eggs and Ham explores Dr. Seuss's wacky world with the character Sam and an unknown friend. Sam tires to persuade his friend to eat striking combination of dishes such as green eggs and ham, and cat mac and cheese. Until the friend tries it and loves it, proving that you never know if you'll like something unless you try it.

A striking book for beginning readers! ( )

Classic Seuss that no child should go without reading it. Perfect as an introduction to reading on their own and also as simple poetry to experience. ( )

This timeless Dr. Seuss classic was first published in 1960, and has been delighting readers ever since. Sam-I-am is as persistent as a telemarketer, changing as many variables as possible in the hopes of convincing the nameless skeptic that green eggs and ham are a delicacy to be savored. He tries every manner of presentation with this "nouveau cuisine"--in a house, with a mouse, in a box, with a fox, with a goat, on a boat--to no avail. Then finally, finally the doubter caves under the tremendous pressure exerted by the tireless Sam-I-am. And guess what? Well, you probably know what happens, but even after reading Green Eggs and Ham the thousandth time, the climactic realization that green eggs and ham are "so good, so good, you see" is still a rush. As usual, kids will love Dr. Seuss's wacky rhymes and whimsical illustrations--and this time, they might even be so moved as to finally take a taste of their broccoli. (Ages 4 to 8)
