adorará Adira ao LibraryThing para descobrir se gostará deste livro. I read its companion, Life as We Knew It, first. This book is just as good and a little bit "edgier" with more gore and desperation. ( )It is a very compelling book. The suspense that they might not make it to the next day was compelling. It was as good as the other book (Life as we Knew it), even better in some spots! It was kind of hard to read because of all the descriptions of bodies and things. I almost stopped because it was almost too disgusting to continue. AHS/CC I liked "Life as we knew it" so much more than this book. This one told the story from a boy's perspective living in NYC. To me it just didn't have the same pull because she didn't really go into any detail about conditions like in the first novel. Also it didn't seem realistic how the kids dealt with death and loss. So, not my favorite. This companion book to Life as We Knew it follows Alex and his family as they struggle to survive after the moon is pushed closer to the earth. I found this book to be just as compelling as the companion book but it seemed more raw. The characters had to deal with different things and I didn't connect as well with them as I did with the characters in Life. Still a great story about survival and what people are willing to do to live. A enthralling book, with an unexpected twist. Finding a way tgo live in New York with no outside connections, VERY EXCITING!! sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0152063110, Hardcover)Susan Beth Pfeffer’s Life as We Knew It enthralled and devastated readers with its brutal but hopeful look at an apocalyptic event--an asteroid hitting the moon, setting off a tailspin of horrific climate changes. Now this harrowing companion novel examines the same events as they unfold in New York City, revealed through the eyes of seventeen-year-old Puerto Rican Alex Morales. When Alex's parents disappear in the aftermath of tidal waves, he must care for his two younger sisters, even as Manhattan becomes a deadly wasteland, and food and aid dwindle. With haunting themes of family, faith, personal change, and courage, this powerful new novel explores how a young man takes on unimaginable responsibilities.
