The work is a 1978 novel written by white supremacist William Luther Pierce who had earned a PhD at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Written under the pseudonym Andrew Macdonald the leader of the racist organization National Alliance postulates a violent revolution in the United States and the destruction of the federal government leading to the extermination of Jews and non-whites. The novel initially circulated only through mail order and at gun shows after being serialized partially through National Alliance publications. The novel is a hackneyed attempt at a literary work in that the characters are flat and undistinguished. The point seems to be a what if and how it could be possible for such a race war to occur. To this end, it most resembles Sinclair Lewis' "It Can't Happen Here" although without a comparable literary quality. Most notably, the work has been associated with actual violent crimes, in particular, it was found in the possession of Timothy McVeigh after the notorious 1995 bombing of a Federal Building in Oklahoma City. Even worse than I expected. Difficult to read due to both abominable content and poor writing. A curious peek into the minds which hate. Bad survivalist fiction. It is hard to believe this book would influence anyone. It lives up to the all too cliche stereotype of "inbred gun toting hill billy" (sorry hill billies). Poorly written. This is a terrible book -- the plot is silly, the characters are awful, the writing is terrible. . Like the other reviewer, I didn't want to take anyone's word for what was in this book -- I wanted to see for myself. I can't add anything to the other reviews other than to say you get some really funny looks reading this on the New York City subway system. I wanted to know what all the fuss was about. Why it was that this was the book that inspired so many neo-nazis in the States; and inspired Timothy McVeigh to his murderous attack in Oklahoma City. Well I'm here to tell you that this book is appalling. It's appalling not only in its crude stereotypes of blacks, asians, jews, homosexuals, indeed anyone who your common or garden 'Aryan' normally hates. But it's also appallingly badly written. The plot does not work at any level. The standard of the writing is poor, and littered with grammatical errors, etc. No, I am ashamed that I own this book. I am ashamed that I let my curiosity get the better of me and parted with $12 for a copy of this, well, 'book'. My advice to anyone who wants to read it is to steal a copy - hell, you can steal mine if you like! Don't ever buy a copy as all you'll do is put money in the hands of some sick minded and really rather evil people. PS - why can't we have a 'zero stars' rating for books like this one :-( sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
