Paulo Coelho is one of my favorite author of our time. He writes beautiful prose, dramatic truths and brave visuals thru his scenes. He makes me contemplate on the things that I don't normally consider having strong views on. He challenges my reasoning and makes me do a double take on my opinions. 11 Minutes is my 2nd favorite from all his books. From the back cover of the book and from the blurbs I gathered from AMAZON.COM the book sounds like your typical erotic books that portrays a young girl that got mixed up with the world of prostitution thus comes graphic descriptions of sex. Nope, this book is more than that. The book is about the difference of Sex and Love. One girl's journey from innocence to understanding the real world will make you want ot read the book page after page until you sigh on how wonderful her story goes. I find the book overpowering due to the subject it presents. Especially the moral vindication and the metaphysics (inner being and the soul) approach on the subject. ( )

I have just finished reading 'Eleven Minutes' by Paul Coelho. I was lent this book by a friend who raved about it. We had been talking about books one day and she said that I had to read this book. It was one of her all time favorites. Having previously read 'The Alchemist' and enjoyed it. In the past I have had trouble reading some of Coelho's other works.

Eleven Minutes is an easy read, frankly addressing sex and sexual pursuits. The back cover describes the novel as "gripping and daring". I disagree. I did not find it at all gripping, but I can see where one could describe it as daring. Paul Coelho manages to discuss the different facets of sex, romance and reality in a comfortable language that is non confrontational to the reader.

"Eleven Minutes" has managed to re-ignite my interest is Coelho's other works and I am now off to try another of his books. ( )

Me gusto mucho un libro en el cual me senti muy abierta a leer sobre temas que nunca habia encontrado en ningun libro, Paulo Coelho sabe muy bien como describir los sentimientos y la naturaleza del ser humano en el. La historia muy buena, una realidad que muchas mujeres viven. ( )

Ich kann mir nicht helfen, ich mag Coelho nicht: Sein Stil ist redundant, seine Figuren sind platt und belehrend, die Handlung ist dünn und die ganze Story lässt sich als Moralparabel auch auf 50 Seiten erzählen.
Coelho wollte laut Nachwort einmal "ernst über Sexualität" schreiben, herausgekommen ist die Geschichte einer Prostituierten, deren Schwanken zwischen Glück, Geld, Liebe und Zukunft spätestens seit den 1990ern in den auflagenstarken deutschen Illustrierten ebenso ausführlich (wenngleich nicht so parabelhaft) geschildert wurde. Am schlimmsten ist aber Coelhos Holzhammermethode: Er wiederholt ein Argument oder einen Gedanken so oft, bis es auch der Letzte verstanden hat. ( )
