The story feels a bit more sparse, with some detail left out relative to the light novel source material. Economics in particular, as a subject, seems less richly detailed than in the light novel. It's quite enjoyable none the less, and I look forward to volume two. While the rating (four stars) looks the same for this manga volume (which makes up a fraction of the story in volume one of the light novel series) as it does for the first Spice and Wolf light novel, the light novel deserves a much stronger four-star rating. If we used a ten-point scale, this manga would be a seven-star rating, and the first light novel would get an eight-star rating. OK, I am in love... with this series. I know that the light novel(s) on which this manga adaptation was based on has been translated into English, but there is just something about the visual medium that makes it stand out. Lawrence and Holo are very cute together and even though there is a lot of plot based on economics, it doesn't detract from the actual story and the characters. It was shrink wrapped in the store due to Holo's initial appearance completely naked, but then she is a wolf and wolves don't tend to wear clothes. OK, I am in love... with this series. "The life of a traveling merchant is a lonely one, a fact with which Kraft Lawrence is well acquainted. Wandering from town to town with just his horse, cart, and whatever wares have come his way, the peddler has pretty well settled into his routine-- that is, until the night Lawrence finds a wolf goddess asleep in his cart. Taking the form of a fetching girl with wolf ears and a tail, Holo has wearied of tending to harvests in the countryside and strikes up a bargain with the merchant to lend him the cunning of 'Holo the Wisewolf' to increase his profits in exchange for taking her along on his travels. What kind of businessman could turn down such an offer? Lawrence soon learns, though, that having an ancient goddess as a traveling companion can be a bit of a mixed blessing. Will this wolf girl turn out to be too wild to tame?"--Publisher's web site. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
