*This is "Book 1" in the short stories that I believe come in Four (4) Parts in E-Book form.*

I am just finding these little books, so I am not 100% positive how many parts there are to this particular book..or if it is more than one actual book in this series and they decided to just break this particular books into parts.

I saw a lot complaining that it's too short on Amazon...but, to me, it is perfect.

When you want to read but don't have the time and/or patience for a long novel at the time, these little short stories are great. You can take them in little bits. Yes, sometimes it can get annoying but right now, I love it because I want to read, I'm just not in the mood for novels!

There are at least four (4) parts to these little novellas and from what I see so far, many aren't much more than 40 pages long. This particular one is only seventeen(17)pages long.

I really did enjoy this little novella and it has me wanting to go on to the next one. If it continues to be as great as this one, I will finish this series of little novellas and hopefully they have an actual book with the whole story I can purchase later! (I like having physical copies of books I enjoy).

This book is about a young slave girl who is brought into the Big House to become the "daughter" of the Master & his wife, but of course, that doesn't go over very well with many, white & slave alike. So, things begin to take a turn from there.

I am enjoying these little stories so far. The first two are written as if the granddaughter of Molasses is reading her diary. This book is only 33 pages. This is a collection of short stories about a slave girl adopted by the Lady of the Big House. And all the trials she has to go through while living in the home.

I am not sure when I will get to the third book: Restoration (Book three of the Cliverton Estate Saga). But when I want something quick and easy to read, this will more than likely be the book I go to. I have the book on my Kindle, but I have so many other books to get to. And still have two books that I had started prior to this one to finish. I just wanted a quick read to help me get back on the reading track.

All of these books can probably be read in one day if you have time to just sit and read because they are so short. There are about four books in this series total (may be more but I only know of the four)

If you like historical fiction based around slavery, and/or want something outside the box, that are short easy reads, I would suggest these little stories.

Books in order by Kris Actira:
1. They Call Me Molasses (Book one of The Cliverton Estate Saga) (Approx. 17 pages)

2.A New Beginning (Book two of the Cliverton Estate Saga)(Approx. 33 pages)

3.Restoration (Book three of the Cliverton Estate Saga) (Approx. 28 pages)

4. Home Again (Book four of The Cliverton Estate Saga) (Approx. 43 pages)

As of this post, all books are no more than $2.99, the cheapest I think is .99 cents(U.S. dollar amount). If you are a Amazon Prime Member, books can be rented but keep in mind that you can only rent one book a month. I think I either got the first free or had gotten it for 99 cents. If you have Nook, I did not see it on the Barnes & Noble website when I typed in the first book.

Let me start off by saying, the novella was good, it really was.

The rest beyond this would be considered spoiler, so I marked it as a spoiler. Click at your own "risk"... :-)

Why the 2 Stars you might ask? Well, it was unrealistic.

How was Molasses a slave in 1833, leaves in about that year (give or take), comes back 12 years later in about 1845 with a 12 year old child and there are cars around! Not unless I misread that part, which I don't think I did, a car was brought up!

Then, in 1941, wouldn't that make all of them over 100 years old? Letters from a man that also should have been over 100 years old..I was so confused towards the end because of the dates. Cars. Jets. And all of this between 1833-1941. Okay, I get it, cars were around in the early 1900's. Maybe even planes. But Jets? Unless they were in the Air Force! Come on! I am still confused trying to look back on the story!

Plus, if this book was taking place even in 1941, it still had the language of someone who lived in 1980 and beyond! Not Segregated, Jim Crow era 1940's (and more than 20 years beyond that)! You have a Bi-Racial (mulatto) woman and her daughter (dark complected as it was put in the book)..In 1941?!? Doing all that she was talking about? maybe because it was novellas, the author just chose not to add what was going on during that time, and wanted to just focus on Molasses. I don't know. But for me, it was just too unrealistic. Even for a fictional book.

I didn't even want to do a review because I don't like being confused. And looking at one other review on Amazon, I am not the only one. Although four others didn't seem to notice...Well, said nothing about it anyway! lol

Now, outside of the Timeline mishap...I did enjoy the story up until then. I really don't like giving bad reviews on any story/book that I read..but sometimes, you come across some books you can't be totally positive about. There have been other books I have not been nice about at all, so compared to those, this review is very nice!

I do suggest that if you read these novellas, go into this one expecting it not to be realistic at all towards the end. Well, actually, throughout the book period. I guess some things are possible, and could have happened, maybe even did..but it would have been a truly rare thing!
