197. Speaking from Vermont, by George D. Aiken (read 16 June 1945) I began reading this book on June 12, 1945, and on that day said to myself: "Reads like a Republican campaign book sometimes, but, of course, Aiken is liberal and his ideas sound." I finished reading the book on June 16, 1945, and said: ""Not a bad book, but it doesn't sound like him now--as Senator."

It shows Aiken at the National Botanic Gardens holding a flask of orchid seedlings. This book was apparently included at some point in the library of R.E. Alexander as it is stamped twice in the front covers.… (mais)
