In this two part book Justin Akers Chacon and Mike Davis try to unravel the roots of conservative pseudo-populism, and vigilante violence in California, as well as show the grinding capitalist machine forcing millions across the desert for mere subsistence.

Heavy indictments are laid upon the system in this book, things that can be seen in the very documents American congressmen and lawmakers have drawn up.
