A narration of select events occurring between 1973-83 in a period of dirty war within the country. It is not a history so much as it is an elegy to those discussed, and a meditation on the corrosive fear infecting Argentina during these times. This is a remarkably powerful book, deserving of attention.

An interesting collection of essays focussed generally on two questions: is there a literature belonging to Latin America; and secondly, how does exile influence writing? The authors included Borges, Vargas Llosa, Garcia Marquez, Roa Bastos, and Alegria amongst others.

A summary of nineteenth and early twentieth wars in South America. It is less about the details of the wars and more about the coverage of them in the British press. As such, unless you are interested in this specific aspect, I'd suggest avoiding it.
