This is a good book. It is written from experience. It has general sections on hiking, and it has specific trail routesand what to expect on each.

I give this a 4 star instead of a 5 star because of the discussion on gear.
The author delves into each item pf apparel to bring and specifically mentions 4 pair of socks. However, there is no mention of footwear to put on over those socks.

I bought a pair of boots specifically for this trail hike, recommended by REI who led the hike years ago. Now those boots have worn out and I expected at least the authors opinions on boots that had worked or not worked for her on this same trail, but there was no mention of footwear, except to consider taking them off every so often. They are not even in the pack list to bring on the trip.

Still, the trail descriptions do match my memory of hiking this same trai with REI guides and so if you have not hiked the trail, the book is well worth having.
