The book Like a Windy Day by Frank Asch & Devin Asch introduces readers to the impact that the wind has on the world around us. It is about a little girl who wants to play like the wind. She imagines all the fun she would have if she could lift birds into the sky, fly kites, spread seeds, crash waves, and help baby spiders get around. The book illustrates the fact that although you cannot see the wind, you can see the effects of it all around us.
I like this book because it focuses on concrete examples that can help young learners conceptualize what air and wind is even though they cannot see it.
I would use this with younger students as a read aloud when introducing the topic of wind and air. It can also be integrated into a unit about the lifecycle of plants as it touches on how seeds are spread.

By asking the students that, it is allowing them to think ahead and it gets them to have involved in the story.… (mais)

This is great for a Kindergartener or pre k student. It really focuses on using verbs. I also notice a teacher could use this book to practice cite words with children!
