Anyone who knows me well, knows I am a major reader of all things Cleopatra and Egypt. My first book about her life was when I was about 7 and since then I have continued to devour anything and everything about her.

Rating this book is tough because it is not a fictional novel with a whole story involved. It is more like a History lesson on her life. I found it compelling. Here are my likes and dislikes and you can make up tour own mind:

I know much of her history but this author provides some info I did not know. I never knew for example that she was known to have been able to speak Half a dozen or more Languages! That is so impressive and I do not recall ever reading that before.

Also although I knew lots about her life, there was much I did not know about the aftermath. For example, I did not know about the lies and propaganda Octavian spread about her which saddened me greatly. I found this book to be informative.

I was a bit confused bu the jumping around which was really my only major issue. I did not get why her death was not covered in the chapter directly after the fall of Marc Anthony. It was a bit choppy and I started to think he had not written about it so I was pleased to see it come up at a later point.

I also have read about her finding out about Anthony's betrayal which was covered in the Elizabeth Taylor film and also included in many Bios but I did not read that here. I wish the book had gone into more depth on the siblings as well. It was a bit short and choppy but I did learn some stuff.

But it is informative and well written. If you are seeking information, there is more then enough in this book.

Solid overview of Norse mythology -- the major gods, locations, and primary myths. An overview like this is successful when it gives the reader the broad outline of the subject, enough detail to make it coherent, and inspires the reader to learn more -- on that basis this book was successful. I've never really had as coherent an overview of Norse mythology vs. Greek/Roman, partially due to having studied Latin, and partially due to greater extant documentation and re-use within western culture, but it's definitely interesting.… (mais)

Vikings: The True and Surprising History of The Vikings by Patrick Auerbach
Started watching and Curse of Oak Island and really got involved with learning about the Vikings as they depict a lot of things about them.
Loved the new words I learned and looking them up, women roles, food they grew and items they made and traded.
Liked hearing of the religion, roles they played, items left behind and the history.
All around great book with many resources.
Excerpt of Norse mythology is included.… (mais)
