This was a really sweet story that ties in with the rest of the books in the series as they all seem to involve the fair in some way or another. The fair was a major factor in this one with the baking competition playing a large part and aspects of it adding the external conflict of the relationship. The main conflict was internal, with Charlie's self-esteem issues causing most of the issues between them. Charlie and Todd were very sweet together and I enjoyed this gentle drama. My only complaint is that everything seemed to happen far too fast at the end. I'd have believed it all more if the epilogue had been six months later rather than two, not just relationship but business wise too.… (mais)

Great revisit to the Hidden Creek Universe. The big summer fair and baking competition that was present in another book was the star in this book as well. I love how the books all come together in some small way, even if the characters never interact.

In this book, Todd is on a work break and comes to Hidden Creek to visit friends before his next job. Charlie is working at the local grocery store but is so miserable (though he does a great job of putting on a happy face for everyone). They meet and have a great night together and then both (without knowing about the other) enter the baking contest.

It was cute and sweet overall. Charlie has a lot of confidence issues. Todd works to get him feeling better right away. They had an instant attraction and over the course of the week, their relationship was simultaneously slow as they worked though stuff and super fast as they fell for each other hard and quickly. I liked their journey, though.

I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC provided by LesCourt Author Services

This is another great addition to the Hidden Creek shared world. I love this world and how everything is all connected around the summer festival thing, but each author and each story has a slightly different take on it. It's really wonderful.

This is the story of Charlie and Todd. Todd is former military who is based in Hidden Creek with a friend, while he goes out and does things like assist movie directors when it comes to military matters. Then we have Charlie, who is a shy man who tends to put everyone first, forgetting that he's someone too. The guys meet, have a moment, and then discover that they are both in the baking contest in the festival, and it is totally on.

You know, I really love how Todd is so careful with Charlie and makes sure to not push him into anything. Charlie just doesn't think a whole lot of himself, and that makes starting any kind of relationship really hard, especially when he thinks that Todd is so far above him.

I just love how these two handle the obstacles that come up and how they manage to keep going.

I want to find Charlie's podcast too.
