Karen Baney

After reading the first two books from Karen Baney's Vargas Ranch series, Falling for a Real Cowboy and Falling for a Shy Cowboy, I wanted to have the opportunity to read the third addition, Falling for a Bossy Cowboy. Even though this is a series, they each can easily be read as a stand alone. I loved getting to know Derin and Madison. It was fun watching the two interact with one another. I thought their story was fun and entertaining. There were a few scenes that made my eyes tear up and others that put a smile on my face. My favorite of this series.

I had the opportunity to listen to the audio version of Falling for a Bossy Cowboy. The narration was done in variety of voices, making it unique and different from most audiobooks I have listened to. I thought it was a nice touch and an interesting performance. I did not want to stop it until the last word was read.

I am giving Falling for a Bossy Cowboy five plus stars. I believe readers who enjoy reading clean romance with the opposites attract aspect, will like it as much as me, if not more. I will be on the look out for releases from Karen Baney in the future. She has earned herself a new fan. This one is definitely not to be missed.

Falling for a Bossy Cowboy is book three in Karen Baney’s Vargas Ranch series. This is a wonderful contemporary Christian series that follows the Baney brothers, their part in running the ranch and the women they fall for. The stories reference characters from the previous books so it is more enjoyable to read them in order. However the author does a great job of introducing characters so the books can be stand alone stories as well. In this story we meet Derin as her is adjusting from being the ranch foreman to the manager of the new sports complex. Madison has suffered a great injury during one of her tennis matches and is now at the complex trying to gain back her strength to return to playing professional tennis.

I enjoyed reading this book. It is a good story of overcoming changes and moving forward. I enjoyed the interaction between Derin and Madison. I also enjoyed the relationship Derin has with the men in his life and how hard he is working towards turning from past habits. I enjoyed how hard Madison worked to recover from her injury and appreciated her reaction after her last tennis match.

Falling for a Shy Cowboy is book 2 in Karen Baney's Vargas Ranch series. This series focuses on the Vargas brothers, in this one we meet Dylan. Dylan's best friend, Adan, works at the ranch and now his sister, Brisa, has joined the staff as a therapist. Dylan has been referred to her for treatment of his stuttering. Meanwhile, Adan makes an account for him on a dating site. Dylan and Brisa start an anonymous communication through the site.

This is an enjoyable story to read. The writing is clear and easy to read. I enjoy reading about the Vargas family and the ranch they have that helps their clients in multiple ways. I appreciate how protective Brisa is about her son and how quickly Dylan is to want to help him. I also appreciate the feelings Brisa has for both her anonymous friend from the dating site and for Dylan. I enjoy how helpful the Vargas family and the ranch employees are to help out Brisa for the sake of her son.

I enjoyed this clean story that had me wanting to join the characters in the picturesque ranch located in Arizona. I know all too well how hot it can get in the summer down south. Poor River has no idea what is in store for her as she reaches the ranch. It is an important trip for her to save her job. Write a romance book about cowboys, they say. She is out of her comfort zone when she steps out in the sweltering heat. I laughed when she realized the clothes she brought would not be accommodating for her.

Dalton is not pleased that River has come to his ranch to invade his quiet life. He has no interest in forming a relationship after the disaster he just went through. Dalton and his family are very close and I loved how they always turned to their faith for everything. A strong family built on God’s Word makes our country stronger. I would love to be at the Vargas family table as they sat down to eat. You can hear the laughter, encouraging words and faith that embraces them.

Dalton’s mother gives him great advice when she says, “Remember, we do not deviate from God’s plan.” He is wrestling with doing too much and not following God’s direction. That can be hard for many of us when we think we know better than God. I loved the tour of the ranch and knew I would love to book a room there. I wonder if River and Dalton will ever give into their feelings and trust God?

When a drone starts to become worrisome, River explains to Dalton that she has this kind of stalker but can’t believe he has found her here in Arizona. Not many people know River’s schedule so who is behind the drone? I really liked this part because my husband is a licensed drone operator. He loves to fly his drone over our land. He has done some drone work for others but always follows the rules. This drone that is following either River or Dalton may be up to no good.

I love the message in the story that is, “Everything in life is about God’s timing, His design. Even when circumstances make little sense.” If you are looking for a sweet clean faith filled book grab a copy of this one.
