The illustrations were beautiful but the story left much to be desired. It's relatable if you know the Brontes' story well and can catch all the little hints and nods to history---but I know my kids would likely be bored and lost with the story.

Gift from Nana.
Nice story about a little girl who lived next door to Emily Dickinson. Note in the back says that while Emily was reclusive with other adults, she was fond of neighborhood children.

33 months - a fictional account of a little girls encounter with Emily Dickenson although to be honest it could be any reclusive person as there is no real information to be gained about the poet. Still a beautiful story and as always wonderful illustrations by Barbara Cooney.

A couple weeks after returning this book to the library I found a copy at the thrift store and had to have it.
