One of my favourite stories as a child. Despite being primarily a picture book, it was deeply moving--the characters experience loss, change, and grow up (so rare in a picture book). It's haunting, in the best possible way. A beloved book.

(Note: 5 stars = amazing, wonderful, 4 = very good book, 3 = decent read, 2 = disappointing, 1 = awful, just awful. I'm fairly good at picking for myself so end up with a lot of 4s).

A beautiful story about a boy and his dog. The illustrations are wonderful. But...my children are very bored by it. It is one of my "don't touch" books, as I adore it and they could care less.
