Author Heather Blanton has given readers another winner with The Vaquero's Heart. It is a captivating Western romance set on the Burning Dress Ranch in Montana. Horse thief, Pearl, very reluctantly finds herself at this unusual ranch run by Miss Sally, and a variety of women in need of healing and hope for the future. Little does she know the changes that will come about as a result of her stay there. Romance, action, strong and lovable characters, and a plot that moves quickly, and readers who enjoy historical Westerns won't want to miss A Vaquero's Heart.

A Scout for Skyler was such a fun book to read. Heather Blanton's love of the Old West, mountain life, and the wranglers and buckaroos that populated that lifestyle shines through in this newest book of Blanton's. Priscilla is quite the wrangler--she can outshoot, out-knife throw, and out-ride most everyone around. She's a wild cat that will need a special kind of man to tame. Unbeknownst to either party, two fathers agreed that pompous, prideful Army Captain Skyler Corbett was just the man to do so. Priscilla reluctantly complies with her father's dying wish and when she arrives at the military fort, the sparks (and occasionally knives) do fly. I enjoyed watching the changes in these two compelling characters as they wended the road to matrimony. Add in an outspoken young teenaged daughter and a few other unforgettable characters and readers will be swept up into a captivating story. It was a delight to watch their journey to a life together as the twists and turns in the plot kept the interest high. Blanton has skillfully woven together a story of adventure, drama, faith, and, of course, romance to create an unputdownable book.

A Groom for Bailey, by Heather Blanton, is an engaging Western romance. Having read several of this author's books, although none of the other books in The Blizzard Bride series, I kind of knew what to expect and was not disappointed. Blanton does a nice job of keeping the reader's interest with delightful characters and a plot that moves quickly and realistically. She touches on themes of prejudice against women, and second chances as she portrays the story of Bailey, a well-educated young widow who has a secret, and needs a husband if she is to stay in Last Chance, Nebraska. The historical aspects in the story (with a cameo appearance of an amazing historical figure even!) add to the interest and show the author has done her homework in getting the time and setting right. The book is an easy read (I pretty much read it in a day or two--couldn't put it down!) and all in all, is a good read. Although it is part of a series, it is easily read as a stand-alone book and readers can look forward to checking out the books that come before. I received a complimentary copy of the ebook and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.… (mais)

Hope in Defiance in Defiance is an action-packed Western romance by Heather Blanton. Although one could read this book as a stand-alone, reading the previous books in the Romance in the Rockies series will significantly enhance the reading experience. I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with these characters as they overcome and find peace and love amidst the uncertainty of life in the town of Defiance. Hope, is fairly new to Defiance and is finding that being a Frontier Doctor is not what she imagined. Could Lane convince her of the beauty of a rugged, small-town life? Or would her supposed failures and all of the dangerous occurrences convince Hope that she is better suited for a practice back East? As Lane reminds Hope, "What-ifs'll drive you crazy." Blanton knows how to keep the interest high with edge of the seat action. Drunken patients accosting Hope, a sniper out for revenge, a fall through the ice, birthing and dying--would their romance have a chance? I love this series and hope there are more books to come. I read a complimentary copy of the book and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.… (mais)
