First of all, a warning. If you listen to the Bobby Bones show, you know Bobby can be all over the place with random side thoughts in the middle of another topic. The book is written the same. I found that to be genuine instead of distracting or confusing. Bobby uses real people with real stories and real failures that helped lead them to their successes. The book is very encouraging for those of us reading who just needed a push. IT’S OK TO FAIL. You don’t succeed without failing. I really enjoyed the book.… (mais)

I really wanted to like this book, but I struggled to make it through. I’m glad I finished it though because I think the best section was “Repeat”. It’s not horrible. It might be great for some people. I think the concepts are simple and a bit obvious for a self help book. I think there are some small tips and tricks which can be tangible takeaways that were just incorporated to make sure it stayed within the genre, but they’re not totally useless. What made this book okay were the stories. I think if anything, reading this book made me more interested in reading his memoir.

What reeled me in? The writing and the sense of humor. The writing is pretty casual, humorous, and very readable. The book feels much more like a conversation with Bobby Bones instead of Bobby Bones telling you what to do to be successful. Con of this, it’s Bobby Bones telling you a lot about Bobby Bones even though it’s a self help book...

What was my favorite takeaway? Part 3: Repeat - specifically the part about job searching.

Beware: Bobby Bones has some pretty unhealthy work/life balance practices. While I think he’s honest about this, there is an undertone of work must become life if you want to be successful.
