I have recently begun hearing about Allison Bornstein – about how she offers fashion advice for women. Several people had mentioned her Three-Word Method, and how she recommends curating your wardrobe to reflect your personal style.

So I was intrigued by this book. While reading, I sometimes got caught up in her theories and recommendations, and other times I felt like the author was taking fashion too seriously as far as considering it a tool for self-discovery.

The photos were disappointing as they are often “arty” collages, and most don’t provide helpful examples of the clothing she is describing. If ever there was a book that called for photos that illustrate, this is it. But they were sadly lacking here.

Despite the overly serious emphasis on clothes bringing you joy, I do think the book has some useful advice for anyone who enjoys clothing – wearing, styling, and purchasing. And everyone can benefit from evaluating which clothes need to go/stay in their closet. Plus, hooray for the advice of shopping your closet!½
