When teaching the history of religion Islam creates a problem. Sharia is totalitarian and encompasses non-believers whereas other religions are tolerant or indifferent to other faiths. In order to be accurate Islam has to be presented as the authoritarian religion that it is and not simply as a review of the five key elements of Islam. US policy makers are behind the curve and tend to be religiously ignorant in their understanding of Islam.

This study is the result of months of analysis, discussion, and drafting by a group of top security policy experts concerned with the preeminent totalitarian threat of our time: the legal-political-military doctrine known within Islam as "sharia." It is designed to provide a comprehensive and articulate "second opinion" on the official characterizations and assessments of this threat as put forth by the US government. This study challenges the assumptions underpinning the official line, which describes the threat euphemistically as "violent extremism," and the policies of co-exsistence, accommodation, and submission that rooted are in these assumptions.… (mais)

A fantastic look at the origins & operations of Delta, told from the perspective of one of Delta's founding members (& later commanding officer). Also included is Boykin's side of the story regarding NBC News' 2003 "Outing" of him, in which the network incorrectly painted the General as an intolerant bigot on a crusade to crush Islam in the name of Jesus. Jerry Boykin dazzles the reader with war stories while interspersing the text with details about how God was at work in his life through the various operations & trials he faced.

I found Never Surrender to be captivating & encouraging, with never a dull moment. It is a well-written book, having the feel of sitting across the table from General Boykin, listening to him sharing his wisdom & stories over a cup of coffee. Never did the narrative get bogged down in minutiae. I have no problem recommending Never Surrender as a fantastic & uplifting memoir. You will be encouraged & your faith will be strengthened by the reading of it.

Thank God for men like Jerry Boykin. They're getting harder to come by.

People committed to biblical values must start speaking about and standing firm for the principles in which they believe. Compromise must not be considered. There is only one personal choice that decides where we spend eternity; if we choose Christ and all He stands for, we gin Heaven' if we deny Christ's Word, we are cowards and deserve hell

I do enjoy a good story that is believable and has enough twists and turns to keep me reading. Danger Close went way beyond what I had expected. I met General Boykin some years ago and was fascinated by his love for God and country. His autobiography read like a thriller, so I expected when he began to write a fictional story it would have some excitement as well. It did.

General Boykin was able to create a character that was worth cheering for and a scenario that was terrifying. "Page turner" is often used to describe a great read. In this case it fits.… (mais)
