This book is a memoir of a "tattooed skateboarding principal" who overcame many obstacles in his life. He grew up in a home that was affected by poverty, drugs, and family dysfunction. Brewer uses his experiences to relate to students who are overwhelmed with feelings of fear, lostness, and desperation. He also uses his childhood experiences to drive his work relentlessly. Brewer wants to empower people to want better, create better, and visualize a better future for themselves no matter what.

Brewer inspires and challenges all educators, students, families, and communities to disrupt the norm by :

* Pursue your best no matter what.
* Transform your school that works for students.
* Become the educator you always dreamed of being.
* Leave a legacy that forces others to achieve their best!

It is about knowing yourself, building relationships with your students, their families, communities, and your peers. It is vital to respect and trust one another. Relationships are key!
