Weak effort. Being bored towards the end of a thriller is a pretty stinging indictment of a book, but that's the truth. Ryan Kealy plays too minor a role in this fourth book in a series. He is asked to unofficially look into the heinous murder and violation of the U.S. President's niece, who is working as a nurse in a refugee camp in Darfu (western Sudan.) Evidence points to the much-vilified president of Sudan, and the President is manipulated to take action.

Suspenseful but first book (The American) was better. Archenemy survived from first book -- what a shock. A bit too heavy on the armaments, for my taste.

Ryan Kealey is dragged back into rescuing the Secretary of State from Pakistan, during a period of rising tensions between Pakistan and India, by his conniving boss, Jonathan Harper (using his "girlfriend" Naomi, who had developed a chemical dependency to deal with her emotional trauma.)

Terrorist plot against U.S. leaders. Likable CIA maverick Ryan Kealey teams with ex-MI6 operative to get the bad guys. Reminescent of Brad Thor's Scot Harvath.
