Review of the 1988 updated and revised edition

This is a practical manual based on the author's own experience.
Trained forester, Iian Brodie, is a South American born Scotsman, who has kept and reared everything from sloths and badgers to alligators and wolves.
His book gives the origins and history of ferreting, with information for anyone wishing to keep ferrets as field craft or breeding for fur.

Although it is important to understand that ferrets are not domesticated animals, they can be tamed; and this is my main interest in them.

The book covers diseases and illness, care, treatment and prevention, housing and feeding in detail; as well as training and hunting.

It is a quick read packed with useful unformation and that is its strong suit. A person with a passing interest in the subject is able to gain valuable knowledge very quickly.
