I don’t know why it has taken me so long to getting round to reading this book as the book blurb sucks me in each time I’m choosing which book to read next from my TBR list!
And now I wish I hadn’t waited so long!! I won’t be making that mistake with the next 2 books in the series.
Fantasy fiction isn’t my first “Go Too” genre of books but when I do find books in this category they end up being 1 of my favourites. Like Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time series I have re read all 14 of the books numerous times and I can now see myself re reading these books as well.
I am pretty confident that if you are a fan of the Lord of the Rings and Wheel of Time books that you will love this book as much as I do.
It isn’t a quick read or a terribly fast-moving plot but I like that about it, there’s nothing like getting your teeth stuck into a good series and knowing that there is enough reading material to keep you engrossed for weeks at a time as opposed to a day at a time!
There are a fair few different aspects and feels (if that’s even a real word!) to this book that it will have appeal to a wide range of readers, Fantasy with a dose of Sci-Fi, Action, Adventure, Romance (paranormal of course) and a flair of Steam Punk combine to make up this world that Christian A. Brown has created and transported his readers too. Almost as though you are seeing this realm and the characters through a virtual reality headset minus the motion sickness! But I think it might just be me alone on the planet that gets motion sickness from watching things like Avatar in 3D!!
But that is probably the best way i can sum up this book for me personally. As immersive as watching Avatar in 3D for the first time at the cinema!! Minus the almost having to be sick in the popcorn bucket!! I wasn’t thank god but it was close. My son has never taken me to the cinema since 🙂
I haven’t gone into details about the book’s plot as the book blurb is descriptive enough and as it is not a new book hitting the shelves there are plenty of reviews recapping the plot for future readers so I will leave my review as a simple book recommendation, and I do honestly highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone, not just Fantasy fans!
If you do decide to take the plunge and pick up this book, Happy reading and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have!

Morigan and Caenith discover each other, and That Love that we all wish for. This was a fantastic Fantasy world, because, as with all the best stories, there is Good vs. Evil, Right but not quite, Wrong but not completely. There are also several sub-stories that eventually all weave together.
I received an e-copy of this story for my honest review.

This was a DNF book for me. It was so horrible that I was debating on whether or not to review it. However, I'm reviewing it because, unlike The Time Roads by Beth Bernobich, I didn't DNF it because it was horribly written, but because of two back-to-back absolutely disgusting, horrifying, graphic, completely unnecessary rape scenes. I've been unsettled by violent scenes in both books and movies, but this wasn't just unsettling. These scenes were so disturbing that I felt physically ill, betrayed by the author, and unable to move onto another book. I had to take several quiet hours to myself to recover. The next day I tried to continue, but a victim of one of the assaults forgives her husband and thinks to herself that it wasn't his fault because he had been taken over by some kind of evil being.

I can't recommend Feast of Fates to anyone, but if you decide to read it anyway, please understand that "trigger warning" is an understatement for this book. I'm not even going to give it one star.

After re-reading Feast of Fates, I was beyond excited and ready to pick up the second book in Four Feasts Till Darkness series. Feast of Dreams by Christian A Brown did not disappoint. It went beyond every expectation, dream, hope, and nightmare I could have had. Brown remains an expert at weaving hope and destruction simultaneously with each character, each story, while propelling the overarching plot. There hasn’t been a series in a very long time that has managed to keep me solidly in its grip, paralyzed with emotion.

One of the greatest strengths in making Feast of Dreams so enjoyable is the pacing. The fact that there isn’t a single chapter, a single point-of-view, that bores. Everything has a purpose, propels the multiple layers of story forward. The push and pull of the story sweeps you away until you stop and realize you’ve reached the end and are desperate for more.

With expert pacing, we get fantastic characters. They don’t feel like plot points or placeholders. Every character seems to have a purpose, whether we know it or not, which makes this book so different from the multitude of other fantasy novels. Whether it’s stated or not, you get the feeling that Brown has each character, no matter how minimal, completely fleshed out with a full backstory that we might never actually get to see. With such real characters, we get to experience the joys and heartbreaks that accompany real people. The shades of grey everyone is composed of. Good intentions turn to ash and though you want to fault them, be angry with them, you can’t because you understand their motivations. You understand the situation they were placed in and the limited choices available. Nowhere is this more evident than with poor Queen Lila. The way Brown nudges her character forward, ever so slowly, so subtly, that her downfall comes as the only logical option for her, no matter how sad the outcome. Indeed, with most of the characters, Brown is subtle at leading you down a path that the final destination shocks you, but only because you were foolish enough to miss the signs leading there.

Amazing characters that are so intricately well-defined that they feel real, individual plots that not only further character progression, but also move forward the gargantuan main plot, Feast of Dreams by Christian A Brown is a dark fantasy masterpiece. Never does it lag, nor does anything ever feel thrown in simply to move the story along or get words on a page. Truly, the new pinnacle of the fantasy genre. Cannot wait to start the third in the series, Feast of Chaos.
