{My thoughts} – Have you ever been curious what it would be like to attend an academy just for the Jedi? If you have then this book will probably be the perfect read for you. I have been wanting to read these books for awhile and just now got around to buying the first four in the series for my daughter. She loves comics and graphic novels and I thought they would be fun reads for her, as everyone in our family enjoys Star Wars.

It didn’t take me long to read through this book and I must say it was rather entertaining. It is written in the same style as the DC Society books by Derek Fridolfs. If you have read and enjoyed those books, you will more then likely enjoy these books.

Roan is an interesting little boy. He wants to attend the Flight Academy but he doesn’t get in. Instead he is set to start at the Plant Academy and he isn’t real thrilled about it. His whole life he’d been looking forward to following in the footsteps that his Grandpa, Father and Brother have laid out for him. However, the world seemed to have a different plan in mind for him. He was set to start at the Plant Academy when he got a letter that was inviting him to attend school at the Jedi Academy. Given Roan’s age this was mostly unheard of.

Roan starts school at the Jedi Academy and he does normal subjects and Jedi subjects. He makes friends and learns who to stay away from. Some of the kids in his class I’d consider mean and bully material. He does his best and finds out that he has a crush on a girl in his class. He misses school when he is home and home when he is at school.

I think that any child that loves Star Wars will enjoy reading this book. I love the illustrations within the pages. They give you a lot to look at and explore. I enjoy reading books like this because they are fun reads. I think that any child would be lucky to have this book added to their home or school library.

{My thoughts} – Roan is on his last year at Jedi Academy. He is doing great with his friendships. He’s even made friends with the new girl at school. Some of the previous kids that were giving him a rough time aren’t anymore. And some of those that weren’t are now. He is just kind of taking things one day at a time, because that is really his only option.

Roan is like any other middle schooler. Just trying to survive school and make a few friends along the way.

I really enjoyed reading this book and read parts of it to my two year old when she was sitting on my lap. She seemed to like looking at all the illustrations the most. Honestly who could blame her? They are extremely well done! The words and the illustrations go together hand and hand.

{My thoughts} – Roan is in his second year at the Jedi Academy. He starts out having a great year, but then things start to get a little sticky. He starts to struggle with his friendships and begins making friends with the wrong crowd.

This is something that happens so often with children in school. Sometimes, they make friends with the wrong crowd because the wrong crowd are the only ones that will talk to them and or give them the time and day. This happens often when their actual friends push them away for some reason or another.

I think this book is nicely put together, it shows that even though friends go through rough spots. In the end it is very much possible for it all to work out in the end. This book also helps to show children that grades in school aren’t the most important thing to worry about. That all you have to do is really try and the more you try the more likely you will see that things can and will improve.

I enjoy reading books like this because they are fun reads. I think that any child would be lucky to have this book added to their home or school library.

If there's High Church and Low Church for the graphics half of graphic novels, this book is the leaky shack of the First Antioch Free Will Baptist Church in BFE, Alabama. That's fine by me, I'm in this genre for the novel half, and I think I tend Low Church anyway.

The subject matter drew me in to reading this, as I enjoy reading about blossoming relationships going bad and sad, as one does. Melancholic Low Church then, sounds promising. But it's all really banal, there's little evidence of any insight into their personalities or relationship, and the breakup comes smack out of nowhere on about the last page. It's like the author had never heard of story arc.

Not really recommended.
