What I found most interesting about Mindy's journey was how much more likely the men she would eventually join were so much more willing to let some unknown white woman try to become a warrior than their own women. This is probably because Lanet, her guide on this journey and now good friend, was interested in changing the old ways and saw Mindy and her friend Becca as a proof of concept that wouldn't deeply affect the tribes if the experiment failed. If Mindy and Becca couldn't handle the rigors of warrior training, it could just be one of those wild campfire stories of the two crazy white women who thought they could be warriors like the men. However, if they succeeded, it could mean huge things for the Maasai women.
