This is the second book in this series, and I would recommend you read the first one, but it is not necessary to be able to enjoy this story.
Five friends who are as close as sisters and are there for one another during their rough times, and good. Love the camaraderie between these woman...they tell it like it is. They all have faults...as we all do...and although they attend Mount Zion, are not always following the Christian Road!
Sullivan having survived the scandal and now is deeply in love with her husband, and wants a baby. Kina is still trying to find herself, and finds herself in a relationship that rocks her faith. She is desperate to feel love again. Reginell and Garret want to have a child, or at least one of them does. Lawson is still not living her faith, and stripping, although she feels it is the only way she can further her career. Then there is Angel, she is planning on remarrying Duke, and living in the house that was Theresa's. She is also becoming a mother to Duke and Theresa's children.
You feel like you want to shake them, and yell "NO" at some of them and their decisions. As we follow them you will love their relationships and the "telling it as it is"!
Don't miss the great heartwarming read!

I received this book through Tywebbin Virtual Tours and the publisher Urban Christian, and was not required to give a positive review.

Chemistry

Jeremiah Cason, pastor of Faith Temple Worship Center, has big dreams for his daughter Catherine a.k.a. Catt. The only problem with that is, he has not shared them with her. He would like to retire someday and he would like for his youth pastor, Eldon, to be both his successor and son- in - law.

Although beautiful, college educated with a good job, Rev. Cason thinks that it might be harder for his daughter to find a husband because she doesn’t get out much. She works for Telegenic as a chemist. She’s either at work or at church. The good reverend feels because she’s a little bigger, that her chances of finding a good man also be somewhat slimmer.

Catt’s boss, Oni, has announced that a new guy, Jamal Ford, will be joining the Telegenic family. Catt knows that he is a great chemist and is looking forward to working with him. Mr. Ford is fine but he has plenty of attitude to go with those looks. All of the women enjoy looking at him. He has made it clear that he likes smaller women, which puts Catt out the game. Actually she is glad because he is selfish, conceded, and he thinks everything is about him.

Unfortunately, Catt and Jamal have to take a three - week road trip together to promote their latest fragrance. How are these two going to survive being alone in a car when they can't stand to be in the same room for three minutes?

A good and fast read. I would definitely recommend "Catt Chasin'" to others.

On a visit to Fred's to pick up some cleaning supplies, I encountered a sign upon entering that stated,"reduced books $4.00." Of course I could not just walk past and not go through these reduced titles. They were mostly Christian fiction titles of which I purchased two along with my cleaning supplies. Suddenly Single was my first choice of these two to pull off the shelf.

Vashti Hunter is left at the altar on the day of her wedding by the man she has been dating for the past five years. Kendrick was Vashti's high school sweetheart. Needless to say this story opens with our narrator in a downward spiral of emotions. Vashti Hunter is a twenty-six year old college graduate and small business owner. On the outside we see a woman that comes across as stable and can hold her own but we read on to find out she is an emotional wreck. Her childhood friend Monique steps in to be her shoulder to cry on and also bring some balance to Vashti's racing thoughts. Vashti finally gets up off the couch to make an appointment to seek counsel from her Pastor. She is told on the phone that she will have to meet with the Assistant Pastor instead. Upon her abrupt departure, Vashti is left with even more of an emotional burden. With Kendrick making no effort to contact or reconcile with her, Vashti launches into the dating pool. This was the hardest part of the book to work through. There were so many horrible dates and Vashti came across as "thirsty." To give you an idea she was engaged twice during this time. The entire time she was going on all these horrible dates the man of her dreams was in her face daily.

The characters in this book were quite simple. The men that Vashti went out on dates with were the most entertaining characters of the entire story. Monique is addicted to retail and unhappily married to a NFL superstar. She does turn out to be a true friend. Lewis a contractor that Vashti hires to remodel her new office and sees as a father figure. He actually steals her heart. His age is and teenage daughter pose threats to this new found love. There is also a heated exchange between Vashti and Monique's mother that really confronts a current issue that is "unspoken" between most women.

I closed this book drawing the conclusion that it was not for the seasoned reader. It was a quick basic read. It is a little too racy to be placed in the Christian fiction genre from my perspective. Suddenly Single was the stereotypical "professional black woman who is "searching" for love to define her" with "church" elements sprinkled in here and there type of novel.

Faith, family, and friendship have always been top priority to lifelong friends Lawson, Reginell, Sullivan, Angel, and Kina, but each one is about to be put to the test during one turbulent year.

Shana is one of the best contemporary Christian Fictions authors out this summer. This book is fun, the dialogue is sassy and smart. Great for women bookclubs.
