This book is important, if not for any other reason, because the author is the second wife of Alexander Campbell. Valuable insights into nineteenth-century life and the early development of what became known as the Restoration Movement are gleaned from this book.

Attitudes on social issues, such as smoking, drinking, dancing, reading novels -- against them all, are on display by the author.

Since I live in Bloomington, Illinois, I was especially pleased to see how Campbell acquired land in the Bloomington area (pp. 456-458) and more about Selina's brother, Edwin Bakewell, who lived on a farm near Bloomington, which was purchased by Campbell. Edwin was a member of First Christian Church in Bloomington.

The book has no index.
