I enjoyed reading The Friendship Tree by Kathy Caple for three reasons. First, I enjoyed how the book was structured. It was separated into chapters based on different seasons (Leaves, The Storm, Christmas, Spring). Second, I found the idea of friendship to be an enjoyable aspect. He pulled the string. “You can open your eyes now,” he said. The leaves drifted down from the pine tree. “Why Otis,” said Blanche “that is the nicest surprise.”). Third, the illustrations found in the text support the plot and help break up the text. After every couple of sentences there is a picture that follows. Caple uses the theme of friendship between two animals to show how the character’s work together through out the text. The big idea behind The Friendship Tree is the importance of friendship. It is the loving and caring bond that friends share together.… (mais)
