won book as early reviewer - but never received the book in the mail. Was disappointed but these things happen.

Nice art and coloring, though the writing and editing, as other reviews have indicated, was not as good as I'd hoped. The story, while promising, missed several opportunities for development and instead relied on well-worn tropes. Hopefully the grammar errors were caught before final publication.

As excited as I was for this book, I was overall disappointed. The concept was good, however it did not seem fully fleshed out, and the writing and character development were lacking. The idea has promise if put through a heavy editing, revision, and review process.½

This is one I hope to revisit and read again. I am not sure if it will get better or worse I just know I want to revisit these characters when my life is a little less stressful.

I received an early release copy of Air Fay thanks to LibraryThings Early Reviewers program. Unfortunately I will have to echo several of the other reviews, the concept of this book was right up my alley and sounded very interesting but unfortunately the writing did not live up to the concept. Generally I try and stick through even mediocre books but couldn't make it through the first couple of chapters. Might be better suited to a younger audience.

I had the chance to read Air Fay as an early reviewing so thank you to Crystal Peake publisher and LibraryThing for that.

At first I was really excited for the concept. Hidden world, faes, character with amnesia! It had the set up for something great but after starting I felt 'eh' from the beginning. The writing was kind of flat and the dialogue was basic. I held out hope that it would get better but it really never did. I struggled to get through it. I feel like I was promised a big exciting adventure but it never delivered on any of it. The characters were never developed past basic tropes and there were so many missed opportunities for even just a little world building. I also felt that the main plot took a back seat to character relationship drama that I just didn't care about. I was given no reason to really like these characters and thus no reason to be invested in their personal dilemmas.

I hate to say it but after finishing I still can't tell you anything special about the book or why you should read it. The concept has so much potential but I was left a tad disappointed with the final product.½

I received this book as an early release. That being said, my opinion is my own good or bad.
I did really enjoy this. It was fast to read and the author did a good job with the writing that I was able to visualize each scene. I will say that there were grammar mistakes. This book is also a little cliche as in you know what to expect. If you pick up the book, don’t expect anything super new and original. If you’re ok with reading this kind of trope, then it’s not that bad. I don’t mind that I knew what to expect as it was fast to go through.

Air Fey is a ya fantasy novel that checks all the usual boxes:

1. Female protagonist with no opinions or identifiable personality, made easier by convenient amnesia that allows her to function normally with other adults but somehow not know what a bird is? Prone to fainting spells. Obviously turns out to have secret powers and is very special.

2. Male protagonist with anger issues obsessed with female protagonist despite her lack of personality, and only exchanging about 50 words of conversation with each other.

3. Obviously they are madly in love and destined to be together. Luckily the author puts gender symbols by their names at the start of each character’s perspective in order to remind you that these are STRAIGHT PEOPLE? I’m unsure of what the point of it is

4. Suffers from some editing issues. Facts that are presented as important early on are dismissed later without explanation.

5. Laws of this magical universe are inconsistent and characters seem to have either deeply complex knowledge or no knowledge at all. Things that are impossible frequently become possible when they are required to move the plot along.
Overall, solid no thanks.
