A Question of Death by Dean Carson
Eliot Locke #3

Smiling as I think about what to say about Eliot Locke the bounty hunter-assassin that is so much more. This series is deadly but never dull and gets better with every book!

What I liked:
* Eliot Locke: brilliant, cunning, careful, intriguing, professional, lethal, calm, and so much more. He made me smile at times. He seems to have the WORST luck with women ;)
* The fact that I can like a paid assassin and root for him to succeed.
* That the person being assassinated was one I felt needed to die.
* That Eliot is not perfect…and yet…he is perfect as the character in this book.
* The idea that an assassin has scruples and doesn’t like collateral damage.
* The setting: Russia. It was fun traveling somewhere else.
* The snippets about his sister, brother, and his CIA buddy, Bill.
* The way I was grabbed in the first chapter and could not put the book down till I finished it.
* Not sure if this is a like or not but it does make me smile…Eliot seems to have the WORST luck with women…that COULD change in the future, though.
* The straightforward way issues are presented and dealt with.
* That Eliot is still “just a guy” though also excellent at what he does.
* The way Eliot prepares for jobs.
* The “labours” that Eliot was set and how he accomplished them.
* Hoping there will be many more books in this series because they make me smile.
* All of it really…except…

What I didn’t like:
* Popovich: game show host for Final Shot, ex-KGB, cruel, and totally unlikable
* Can’t think of anything else…

Did I enjoy this book? Oh my, yes!
Would I read more in this series? Without a doubt!

The Camino Killer by Dean Carson
Eliot Locke Thrillers #2

Another refreshingly delightful “thriller” that had me smiling even though the situation was at times dire. This is not a spoof but at times had me thinking of how it danced on the line between serious and not quite so very much so. I loved it!

What I liked:
* Eliot Locke: a bounty hunter that brings his target in dead or alive and this time the request is alive, and he is up for the challenge. This man intrigues me with his intelligence, lethal capabilities, ability to get along with others, and his humanness. I can’t wait to hear more about him, his family, and his next job.
* The way the murders are referred to let me know they were cruel and painful for the person dying but details were not graphic.
* The way characters were presented and fleshed out.
* Cardinal Fermin Benoluchi: the man who hired Eliot at the behest of the Catholic church was a good man, a good friend, and very human while also being a man of faith.
* Magda Lynn: outspoken, secure within herself, chameleon, friendly, professional, and a famous porn star that didn’t know her real purpose on the hike of the Camino pilgrimage.
* Bill: Eliot’s CIA friend and sometimes employer who made an appearance in this and the first book.
* Getting a glimpse of Spain and the pilgrimage.
* The mention of Eliot’s siblings and how they relate to him…so very real.
* The way the story was crafted – drew me in, made me care, had enough to make me smile…really enjoyed it.
* That the bad guy(s) were determined and dealt with.
* Knowing there is another book in the series ready to be enjoyed.

What I didn’t like:
* Exactly what I was meant to not like – so glad the bad guys were caught!
* Realizing that the bad guys described in this book are all too real and lurk about in the world.

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely

Dead or Alive by Dean Carson
Eliot Locke Thriller #1

What a refreshing delightful read this book proved to be! I have met a new author and character in a series I hope to see more of in the future. How can the story of an assassin be fun? I am not sure, but it was!

What I liked:
* Eliot: a bounty hunter that is old fashioned and brings them in dead or alive. He is bright, methodical, focused, capable, flexible, thinks on his feet, has sharp instincts, is personable, has good relations with his siblings, prefers no collateral damage, enjoys a spot of fun and seems to be a good friend.
* Bill: his contact at Langley
* Ben: Bill’s seventeen-year-old son
* The way Eliot handles the situations he finds himself in
* That Eliot is not able to see through steel doors and leap mountains – he is good at what he does but not superhuman.
* The twists, turns and surprises
* The side story about Eliot’s sister…brought some humor into the story
* Getting to see a bit of Bosnia.
* That the conclusion was satisfying.

What I didn’t like:
* The situation Eliot found himself in…more than once.
* Having to wait for the next book in the series
