Generous Fiction is a Dalian consortium of poetry; a farmer’s market of organic, rebellious, raw liturgy framed in a literary form. It’s not poetry, it’s not novelistic, it’s not anything but what it is; which brings magic to its being. Unlike many “poetic authors” he adds explanation after each poem describing his presence upon writing said poem. I don't know of any other poet that is as upfront with his words as Michael Cervin! He is not one that will be offended if you "don't like it" or if you get something totally difference from the piece than was intended by him. In fact, after reading the introduction of "Generous Fiction" I was clear that I was on my own and he wasn't about to guide me in my thoughts.
This book is unique. After each piece of poetry Cervin explains what he was doing, thinking, or being at the time he wrote it. I like that.
I read a lot of poetry and I have to say this is one book that ranks on the top of the list for me. Cervin writes from outside the box - that's my kind of poet!… (mais)
