Mei Kendra Chailyn

I recently met the author at the Ignite Your Soul author event in London, Ontario and decided to give her new book a try. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Prey. The only thing I did know was that it was written with mature audiences in mind.

If you are a fan of romance, Prey is up there with some of the best I have read. The main characters are best friends. She is his daughter’s godmother. He’s a cop and her confident. Together they have a special friendship. A simple misclick of a mouse sends a few sexy photos to the wrong person – changing everything.

This is a great story. We see the characters deal with life issues involved in relationships at all phases. The adult scenes are well written and not overbearing, although there are some light fetish subject matters included.

Shane is a strong female character – talented and successful. She’s made a name for herself and her love life has suffered in the process. I liked her decision to have a somewhat risque photo shoot done for herself – to make herself feel more feminine. An empowering thing for a woman to do.

There is only one reason this isn’t a five star rating. At one point in the book the author takes all of Shane’s strength away from her for a couple of scenes – portraying her as almost desperate for a man’s touch. That feeling could have been avoided with a little extra attention on the transition from friendship to love. I would have liked to have seen a build-up from the first kiss to the bedroom.
