Chanticleer

(Featuring Dawn Upshaw) Chanticleer is a fantastic men's a cappella group, but a few selections are not to my taste. They specialize in international programs.

Another great Christmas CD with the lovely harmonies of Chanticleer. Some of my favorites are In dulci jubilo (Piae Cantiones), Verbum caro factum est: Y la Virgen le dezia, Noel, A Virgin unspotted, and Glory to the newborn King. There are new (to me) songs to be heard and others that return to their original languages. I am glad that I got this CD.

I loved this album. The harmonies are glorious. I found new songs to enjoy. Favorites include Serenissima uno Nocha, E la Don Don, Riu, Riu, Chiu, Ave Maria, Nowell, and Medley of Christmas Spirituals.

I love this collection of carols. Most were familiar; the harmonies lifted them up. Gabriel's Message was one of the new ones for me and was quietly joyful. Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day set my toes to twitching. Silent Night was a lovely closure. If you enjoy Christmas music with close harmonies, I think you will enjoy this album.
