The Overnight Socialite: A Novel por Bridie Clark
I struggled to finish. I felt disengaged and at times bored. There was very little character development for Wyatt, and for his relationship with Lucy Jo as a whole. Where was the spark?! The anticipation?! So much potential, but a regretfully underwhelming read.
If there was one word for this book it would be... meh?
I think going into this, I expected more pizzaz and dazzle from this. The writing style did nothing to help this, feeling very dry and dull and overall hard to get through at times; the characters were very flat and never really changed (by the end I literally hated all of them) and I wasn't fond of the lack of plot. The book was basically party, Lucy does something, party, Cornelia bitches about something, party, Wyatt thinks about his book.
Overall, while there were a few scenes that I enjoyed more than others, and I appreciated the fact that the romance was very subtle and was not part of the book until the very end, this book fell flat.

Only okay chick lit. Formulaic. Needs editing. A poor relation to [The Devil Wears Prada].
