A first grade class has a costume party. The choosing and wearing of costumes makes up the bulk of this mildly written book. The rest involves a third grade bully who disrupts the party and then gets knocked down accidentally by the titular Jim. Not exactly a long-term bully solution. The illustrations are a little blurry and struck me as old fashioned.

The best part is probably that one kid goes to the costume party as a hiccup.

This book is about a child worried about going to school because its new and they don't know if they're going to make any friends. He ends up meeting someone and they become good friends. This can teach children that going to a new school can be scary but they're going to meet really cool people.

Speaks about school testing issue. "Great book to remind people that being the smartest on a test is not the only thing that matters in a classroom."
