I found this quite disappointing after [b:Mercenaries|6930155|Mercenaries (The Conquest Trilogy #1)|Jack Ludlow|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1348753385s/6930155.jpg|7160969], it was very hard to get into due to the long, long passages of dry narrative about convoluted politics and campaigning. There was very little engagement with the characters and their lives, to the extent that when William de Hauteville died I found it very hard to care.

Un augurio de muerte marcará la vida de dos jóvenes patricios: Aulo Cornelio y Lucio Falerio. Ambos vivirán y lucharán por desafiar al destino en los sangrientos días de la decrépita República romana.

Not an exciting book with lots of repetitive scenes

An army officer drafted to lead a mixed group of marines and infantry. Mutual enmity between the groups and led by a disreputable, Irish and Catholic as well, leader caused them to be the expendables for action aship and on land. Lots of action, too much perhaps, welds the group into an effective fighting force and honour is redeemed.
