Gospel preacher. He spoke on the 1st Annual Bible Lectureship at Freed-Hardeman College in 1937. Bio in Gospel Advocate, Dec. 5, 1940, 1164. He obtained a B.A., University of Texas, 1904, M.A., University of Texas, 1911, additional graduate work, George Peabody College (Nashville, Tennessee). Cox was part of the original faculty of the Childers Classical Institue, forerunner of Abilene Christian College, the institution with which he spent most of his career. After a year (1911-1912) as president of Abilene Christian College, he served as president Tarleton University, 1913-1917, then returned to Abilene Christian to head the Education department. He served as president again from 1932-1940, then returned to full-time teaching until his retirement in 1951.
