This was a new genre for me but I have read other books by Golden so figured....let's give it a shot.

Now I'm not sure what I expected but this, it dragged at moments and others it felt it flew by too quickly.

Jesse and Jenny, I liked their character and what they wanted for their lives. Dreaming of overcoming the class difference so that everyone could enjoy the wealth and riches of their hard work. Both suffer tragedy at young ages and you can see how that impacts them as adults.

Frost is Jesse's business rival and an all out nasty man. Not just because of his psychotic obsession with a one of a kind sex-bot he built to look like his lost love that he never really had.

Aero is the sex-bot who it turns out is more human than some humans. He understands love, compassion, and knows clearly what is the right thing to do. He also realizes that the "life" he has with Frost is not life but just an endless form of torture and abuse.

Aftershock...the banished ex-leader of a band of raiders. His secret yearnings and longings told to the wrong person have led him to be shunned by all. Except our rag tag bunch....Jesse, Jenny, and Aero.

There are other side characters that make for some fun conversations. There are lessons all over the story. That even as we hit our goals remember to bring up others with us. Every person deserves love and respect. And the ever important, never judge a book by it's cover.

Now with the way the book ended I am interested in seeing if this journey will continue and how these characters will once again interact with one another now the "bad guy" is dead....but he wasn't working alone was he???

So, we have been waiting for what feels like years for this book....it was worth the wait.

We began with a clash of two werewolf packs. The struggle for power and on the part of the Shadow Pack Alpha, a desire to get back what was taken from him. Intriguing.....

We then follow the life of Cooper Bennett, smallish boy from the very poor side of town who's treated no better than an animal by his extremely abusive father. (I don't usually wish hateful things on people bot this fool, ooh he made me see red!) His best friend Billy is also poorish but at least he has loving parents. Then there is Cooper's love, Alyssa...she's not from their side of town yet she sees a kindness and a "certain something" in Cooper. And poor Cooper, as he grew up he became the target of the town's resident bully, Liam...who happens to be the son of the Light Pack Alpha.

Even with the odds against them Cooper and Billy do not put up with Liam's antics or those of his entourage. Liam is used to doing what he wants because he knows he will one day be Alpha and daddy's money has gotten him out of trouble each and every time. Trust me, you are going to want to punch his lights out a time or two.

Not to get into all the goings on let's just say....after one brutal beating Cooper finds himself in the hospital recovering from, can you guess, a werewolf bite. Now things are going to get a little more balanced and a little more interesting around town. Lance Goddard, the bad Alpha, is setting up to strike out at Grayson, the Alpha of the Light Pack, and recover whatever it was that is being kept from him. (and it is soooo nothing I would have thought of). We have deals struck, deceptions carried out, and the return of old allies. Liam gets his due at Lance's hands....but fear not, karma gives Lance what she owes him too

This was a page turner for me. I got caught up in the story. Rooted for the good guys....booed the bad and laughed at the allies snarkiness. Thoroughly entertained by it.

A book that talks to you....you could save this man's life, will you do it?

Chance is a man trapped in a book. Each person who takes a chance on the story might just be the one to break him free of his prison. But he doesn't remember how he got in there. All we get are "flashes", memories that slowly start to make sense to him the more you interact (read). And that trick with the rose....did you see that coming?

What's this, this memory is of him doing something horrific....will you continue, possibly setting him free or cut and run as many others have done?

For a short story this story packs a wallop. Who would think of having the book "talk" to you? Tell you how it feels to be trapped in there, what you can do to set him free, he even lets you know when to stop...you've reached optimum release point. But do you listen, is there more to the story, do you want to hear it?

I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say, it's like nothing I've read before. It does leave me with some questions....his sister, how can she still communicate with the outside world? And what has happened to Chance? Golden is good at giving his reader's teasers until a book releases, this would work as a teaser to a longer more in depth version of this story...and I for one would read it. Curiosity gets the best of me.

First off....love the playlist to this book. A trip down the 80's memory lane and some very fun times for me.

Now onto the book. I liked it. It's a different kind of story than what I am used to from Golden but it had it all. The hot guy who could be an ass. The girl who knows her own mind but doesn't know if she can have the guy of her dreams. Small town girl...ex-athlete now turned Super Model. Ya know, just a bit of difference in their backgrounds.

We met brother Cannon, the photographer who's making a name for himself and has some interesting stories that I'm sure we'll love reading more about in future novellas. His intern/PA Hollis, now I see a budding romance on the horizon.

Cameron is the business guy in the family. He started the agency and has kept it growing and going all this time. I can't help but feel that woman, Lesley Ward, is going to be a big pain in his backside. Not just because her family owns the property the Palmers lease but she just has bitchy written all over her. I so hope she isn't "Cammie's" HEA. Yea she calls him Cammie, sums her up in a nutshell doesn't it?

If you read Golden's Swole series then you recognize Trent....and LOL about the fact he still has this thing for hot dogs. (If you haven't read, oh boy are you missing out.)

So yes, I'm excited to read about the other brothers....now let's see how the wait until the next book. Although Golden does love to drop teasers....hmmm....
