I write stories about magick, love and dark creatures lurking in the shadows. When I'm not lost in Edit Land you can find me reading a book from my towering TBR pile or at the movie theater nibbling licorice. I don't have a lucky number, but my favorite time is 11:11. I completely believe that the fortunes found inside cookies will come true and that you must be careful when wishing on stars. I live on an island, so if you want to visit you'll need a boat, and if you want to survive the passage be sure to bring candy for the mermaids.

Overall, good book. It was a very slow start, but by the end I was enthralled. The crazy names of the characters was very distracting for me. I had a harder time keeping them all straight. Loved the world building, and going to read the next in the series.

I know I have said before that I have read quite a few mermaid stories this year. This book is one of them. This is also a totally unique mermaid story from the others that I have read. The story is about mermaids and sirens. In here, the mermaids are the bad guys which is not usually the case. That alone is already a good start to story.

Halen is girl who got sparks from her fingertips. They're like lightning. Tage and her were running from a boy who just came into their house and they both ended up swimming out to sea. When Halen woke up, she was in a different world and secrets about her real identity and about her life had started to surface. One person who he thought was dead was actually alive and now, she must fulfill her destiny, destroy everything or run away from it all.

The was a part of the story that was a bit hazy for me. The part were Halen was talking to Asair in his lair was not so clear to me. Somehow, I did not care much about what their conversation was. In away, it was a bit uninteresting for me. I am not so sure. But I might have fallen asleep during this part. But I am glad that it somehow ended well, though it's obvious that there is a next book. Despite that part where I might have daydreamed or my mind was somewhere else, I actually wanted to read the next book. I'm curious as to what's going to Halen. The ending hinted that she somehow did not fully escaped the darkness and Asair's influence. So, that's what's to be expected in the next installment. How that part would come into play when Halen is not entirely herself anymore after her encounter with Asair is totally to watch for.

Other than that, I think I enjoyed the story. The secrets and all the things that were kept from Halen really interesting things that would keep you glued the story. Knowing that Halen actually have some other immediate family members that she still had to meet is also a good reason to follow the series. I am especially curious when that other family member will turn up and come face to face with Halen and if Halen will be able to free that person from whatever is keeping her.

And of course, the romance part of the story is also still in it's early stages, so a lot could still happen. I'm pretty sure when that long lost family member makes an appearance, she will definitely cause chaos and confusion, especially with these two would be lovers --Halen and Dax. Definitely, that person will affect the relationship of these two.

So, there's a lot to be expected in the development of this story and that makes me so curious. I am still looking for a review copy of the second book and haven't found one yet. Hopefully, I would be able to because I wanted to find out if my theories are correct. So, with that said, I give this book 4/5 silver bracelets with star charms.

Every day is filled with impossibility, until you have chosen to see the possible. Once you make the shift to see, life is a less frightening journey.

Love thrived with trust and wilted with lies.

Forgiveness is as easy as love. Letting go is the hard part.
- Tiffany Daune, Coral and Bone -

Thank you again Tiffany Daune and Ben of Oftomes Publishing for the copy. Sorry for the very delayed posting of the review.

This is the second book in the series and picks up where the first when leaves off. In other words, it's highly recommended to start at the beginning of the series before diving into book two.

Halen has destroyed Asair. . .or maybe not. The Etils' fires are still burning, and the threat to Earth is even greater than before. And the excitement and problems just shoot off from here. This is a packed book on so many levels—fast moving, hidden secrets, unexpected twists, and tons of character dilemmas. The first book already kept a great pace, but the sequel takes the tale to the next level.

Nothing is simple for any single one of the characters, and the author lets these problems weave in and out and all around, while still keeping them knit into an intricate plot. Halen is, at times, a little more difficult to grasp than in the first book, but then, she's up against quite a bit. Her decisions are sometimes rash, and her scope a bit narrow. Still, her character manages to pull through, and by the end of the book, it's impossible not to cheer her on. . .while clinging to the edge of the seat. While she shined in book one, this book tends to let the other characters come through a bit more and bring traits to life, which add much more shades of gray. In other words, a great set-up of book three.

Relationships, personal demons and driving forces take one unexpected twist after another, making it hard to see what is coming next. Tension is as high as the stakes, and there's never a boring moment. It's not a book easy to put down but keeps driving forward with full force. Halen is under time pressure to save them all, and the route to do this isn't easy or clear-cut. Add the dangerous Hunters, her twin sister, possible romantic interests which just don't want to take the easy path, and it's quite the ride.

What gives this one so much richness is the dive into the other characters problems and shadow sides. Especially Asair gains a wonderful amount of depth and understanding in this book, taking his role as the ultimate villain on a delightful spin. The interactions between him and Halen are simply a treat, and it will be interesting to see in which direction this leads. He definitely has gained rank on my villain scale, and the author has done a marvelous job at rounding him into an intriguing character.

The author knows how to use the moments to draw out emotions and isn't afraid to drive the characters into unexpected leaps or back them against a wall. Even in those moments, when Halen wasn't the most grabbing main character she could have been, the book doesn't let go. There's something about it which hooks and holds until the last page. And thanks to the cliff-hanger ending, makes it impossible not to want to dive into book three and see what happens next.

Fans of the first book are sure to enjoy this one, but should be prepared for some unexpected moments. I enjoyed this book more than the first and can't wait to see what still lies in store.

I received a complimentary copy and enjoyed this so much that I wanted to leave my honest thoughts.

Coral & Bone by Tiffany Daune is the first book in her Coral & Bone series of fantasy and magic that swept me away from Rockaway Beach to the ocean deep.

Halen didn’t discover her gift, or is it a curse, until she returned home to Rockaway Beach.

HE began haunting her.

She had been born on a blue moon, which made her very special!

Mermaids, empaths, sirens, magic…hunters.

If it sounds like a battle between good and evil, it is. And the unknowing participant is Halen.

Coral & Bone engulfed me from the start and kept drawing me in further.

I love a book with a twist that catches me unaware and Tiffany Daune did that. Coral & Bone is more than just your average paranormal/fantasy read.

The only thing I don’t like about Coral and Bone…there’s more. I enjoyed the story and would highly recommend it. Curses & Ash, Book II is available, so no waiting.
