At last, we get Rafe's story. The taciturn, closed-off, former Marine sniper has intrigued me from the start, and his ongoing feud with Charlie seemed out of character. Here, we look at Rafe's past and the experiences that affected him so profoundly, including his problems with Charlie.

Quinn's sister, Charlie, is the financial genius who ensures that Foxworth has the resources it needs. Her life appears to revolve around the foundation and its needs. She's always calm, logical, and focused - except when around Rafe. It was interesting to see these two get under each other's skin.

The suspense of the story was terrific. Three years earlier, an ambush nearly wiped out Foxworth operatives. Since then, they have unsuccessfully searched for the person responsible. No matter what, they refused to give up, and Charlie has finally identified him. Though she isn't a trained operative, she maneuvers her way into becoming the man's girlfriend while searching for the proof they need to take him down. When Max Flood invites her to Seattle with him, she knows this is the time to get Quinn involved.

I loved watching the team go all in to bring down their quarry. It isn't easy, and a lot of undercover work is going on. Each step kept me riveted and impatient to see results. The intensity kept ramping up the further they got into the investigation. An unexpected twist brought an old case into the mix and complicated the mission. I was on the edge of my seat when Charlie was in mortal danger and gripped by the intensity of the rescue scene. The "gotcha" scene with Max Flood was fantastic and the perfect culmination of their investigation.

As wonderful as the suspense was, watching Rafe and Charlie together was terrific. Each is known for their stoic calm and attention to detail, but that all goes out the window when they must deal with each other. The sparks between them were explosive, with their attraction hidden beneath a barrage of snide remarks. You know it isn't good when Quinn has to intervene. I felt for Cutter, who was determined to bring the two together. Even he showed frustration at their stubbornness. Despite his problems with Charlie, Rafe is very protective of her but consistently puts his foot in his mouth when attempting to express his worries. Charlie is determined to stick with her plan despite its dangers.

In the meantime, she tries to break through Rafe's walls and find out why he pulled away from her. I liked seeing her chip away at him until he finally caved. I ached for him as he revealed the tragedy that had haunted him. Their conversation was intense and emotional, and it was exactly what was needed to break the chains that kept Rafe from believing he deserved to be happy.

Cutter had his work cut out for him in this book. While the professional work was intense, he handled it all with ease. But when it came to his other mission of getting Charlie and Rafe together, he had to work extra hard. It's always fun to see those skeptical of his talents, such as Charlie, experience his matchmaking determination. Rafe is well aware of Cutter's proclivities but tries hard to resist. Seeing even Cutter frustrated and annoyed by their uncooperativeness was amusing. I laughed out loud at Cutter's effective way of getting Rafe to stop running away. The epilogue was a funny depiction of an exhausted Cutter.

I'm not sure if this is the last of the Cutter's Code series. I know it was intended to be, but hopefully, the author will listen to her many fans and pen new adventures for Foxworth and Cutter.

Good addition to the series. In this book, we have Greg Colton, the oldest of the Colton siblings, and Briony Adams, a shy, loner accountant, who are the best friends of Rick and Wendy Kraft. In a shocking development, Rick and Wendy are killed in a car accident, leaving Greg and Briony as co-guardians of the Kraft's two children, Justin and Jane. Stunned by their friends' deaths, Greg and Briony vow to do their best to care for the kids.

Becoming the children's guardians causes radical changes in Greg and Briony's lives. I loved seeing them work together to make the kids' lives go as smoothly as possible. I liked that each paid attention to the other's ideas and preferences. Their teamwork was excellent and helped overcome some of the awkwardness of living together. Neither expected the sparks of attraction that flared between them. Though Rick and Wendy had frequently attempted to push Greg and Briony together, neither felt that they had enough in common to make a relationship work. But the more time they spent together, the stronger the attraction grew.

When Rick's despicable father sues for custody of the children (and their inheritances), Greg and Briony realize they have a better chance of foiling his plans if they are married. They agree to a marriage of convenience to ensure they present a united front. I liked seeing them get to know each other better and appreciate their differences and similarities. They are just starting to explore their growing feelings when a dangerous situation intensifies their emotions.

The suspense of the story was good. When Rick's will clarifies that his father is never allowed near the children, Greg and Briony are determined to carry out his wishes. The hint of trouble comes when they realize they are being watched. The tension ramps up when Mr. Kraft sues for custody. I was glued to the pages when the children disappeared, knowing the likely culprit was him. I could feel their worry and fear as they and the entire town joined the search. The final confrontation was a nail-biter, and I was on the edge of my seat until it was all over.

I loved the support that Greg and Briony received from the Colton family. Greg's father, Buck, and his Aunt Jen are fantastic in helping take care of Justin and Jane. I loved the immediate response when the kids disappeared. For Briony, who grew up in foster care, the closeness of the Colton family was an eye-opener and life-changing experience.

This collection of stories is about fathers who sometimes don't always see themselves as being a father at all. Some is a natural thing, others must learn but follow by examples. Each one is a hero. Some stories are so much more emtional than others. There are hard subjects to them becoming a father. They all do really well at it.
.....

Some tense moments with her father til the medical emergency. Love how he is around kids and how he can teach them on lambs rather than deadly bulls. Adult situations.
So much action, emotions, career choices and how to save the family ranch.
All around terrific read, have read a few others from the series and can't wait to read more.

Matilda Next Door by Kelly Hunter
This story starts out with Tilly and she's going to London to take a special baking course. She loves to bake for the locals and friends. She will be staying at Henry's apartment while he is visiting in Australia-the next farm over. He has ailing grandparents and he hopes to get them the care they need to lighten their load. He also has made a lot of money with his company. While there years earlier he had a relationship with a woman. After a few days in London Tilly meets Henry's new baby girl. The mother had passed away and a friend had dropped all the babies things off at Harrys. She uses the internet to find out how to take care of the baby. Harry was heading to London but his grandmother has a medical emergency so Tilly brings the baby to him. So many twists and turns in this book.
So many of them didn't have a good upbringing so they are not sure how to tend to a baby and their needs. There are so many things he needs to do and he does want a family, but he's not sure if Tilly is the right one for them.
She's about to give up her dream of more baking classes to stay close to Harry and the baby....
Fear, struggles, loneliness, ...
Love the travel and excursions she was able to take while in London and learning how they take care of their farms in Australia.
What a way to become a father.
...

The Stardust Cowboy by Anne McAllister
This story starts out with Riley and he's on his way to pay a visit to a woman who birthed his nephew. He has sad news for her but is offering to buy out her 1/2 share of the family ranch. Dori and her son Jake think about it a while and she decides for Jake and his dream that they need to visit the ranch. Love that they just show up one day and she rather takes over the house chores. Riley keeps Jake with him all day teaching him how to take care of the animals and the ranch. One day it will all be his.
Dori is able to meet the locals an there is a lot of gossip and the women want to know about her and Riley. She denies it then she notices he is very friendly with an old class mate Tricia.
Lots of twists and turns.
Love the ranch and everything there is to do there, the community coming together and the love of everyone. Yes there is gossip and rumors but it's like that in a small town.
You wonder if they will get together or if they are going their separate ways.
Love legend of the stardust cowboy, such an imagination. Adult situations.

Nothing But Cowboy by Justine Davis
This story starts out with Keller and he helps run the family ranch with his family. One day he actually found a boy in the hay and he didn't look so well. He was able to find out the boy's name Lucas and he fed him and got him a place to sleep and he helps at the ranch now. The story also follows Sydney and she claims she is the boy's cousin. The part that really got to me was when Sydney stated that her parents did not want her around and Lucas's parents were the same way. It was really sad but I was happy to find out that Keller Wanted to adopt Lucas and Sydney wants some part of the day To spend with Lucas to get to know him. Is great story. Love how the family gather around and the neighbors to help everybody out.

She also thinks she may be expecting again and he wants no more kids because he's afraid to lose her.
Her family welcomes her in even giving her a light job to do at the bar. Michael heads to see her and the family
There is so much for Michael to do even after getting a job at the family place but he loves organizing and running the whole kitchen and he’s very good at it. The family as a whole has lots of decisions to make. There are many who don't like telling their secrets but it’s key here... Very emotional story and glad I stuck with it til the end.
Love hearing about her business, his work and travel through the country.
