The Congregation por Desiree Bombenon
This is the second book in the Jake and Amanda Bannon series and while I did enjoy it I had the same issues with holes in the story and felt it could have been better.

booksgaloreca | 9 outras críticas | Mar 27, 2016 | I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I liked the premise of the book and the story, but it felt like I had been dumped into the middle of a series and was having to catch up on characters and past storylines. It was a decent book overall, but the plot had quite a few holes in it.

An interesting concept - a group of young people led by a disillusioned priest in a coordinated attempt to cause harm to the Catholic Church - the symbolic "evil". I just had difficulty with the pace of this book. I jumped back and forth between the different character's points-of-view too quickly, leaving the chapters feeling a little disjointed. I did like it, I just didn't love it.

Mystery solvers Amanda and Jake Bannon are planning a vacation to Rome. While there, they are going to visit Cardinal Roland at the Vatican to pick up a rosary Amanda’s mother wanted blessed, and also deliver a relic to Father Kristofferson. However, Amanda keeps having psychic visions that foretell violence and doom as they become embroiled in a mystery they don't really understand. I liked the plot, but the writing didn't live up to my expectations. The story line was jumpy and I got lost as I tried to keep up with what was happening. I ended up going back to reread some sections to better understand the plot development. There were references to a previous book that I had not read, which contributed to my confusion. All in all, it could have been an interesting book but I can't give it more than 3 stars.… (mais)
