Small, pea green, and constantly on the hunt for lonely children who need a companion, a little beast comes to live with Marcia Evans for a while, and the two spend an idyllic summer together. Then the fall comes and Marcia heads off to school for the first time, making the beast aware that their time together has come to an end. Funny early chapter book. Wish I could remember more, sorry. :(

Nine-year-old Mallory discovers that her new stepfather has been shrunk accidentally and tries to return him to normal size before her mother gets home!

Students will love the humor in this book. I would extend the book by asking students to write what they would do in this situation.
