I liked this book, mainly because the character spoke directly to the reader, keeping you advised of their thoughts. But, some of it wasn't believable.
Charlie thought she had the perfect marriage to Oliver. He was handsome, smart, and successful. But, one night, while she was out with her friend, Tess, she thought she saw Oliver's profile on a dating app that Tess was using. She couldn't believe that he was cheating on her, and he denied it.
But, Charlie wouldn't let it go, so she snooped, and found more than she bargained for. Additionally, strange things were happening that she couldn't explain, and then one day - it all blew up.… (mais)

Another really good read from Pip Drysdale. What I like about Drysdale's books is that just when you think you know where the plot is going, it takes a sharp unexpected twist.

Charlie's husband Oliver has been careful to not exactly describe for her what his job involves. And he is away a lot. They haven't been married long, but she loves him and trusts him, until she begins to have doubts.

My second search for a book for my weekend book group to read. I wonder what they will make of this one?

Wilhelmina (Billie) Spencer-Tate wants to work as a para-legal in New York, but now she has lost her job. For Billie is not what she seems.

In fact she is a one-person vigilante. She uses her job to identify, select, and then target men who abuse and gaslight women. She attempts to "bring them to justice". She uses her considerable high-tech skills to reveal their true profiles on social media. It is dangerous work because if she is caught she could be prosecuted, imprisoned, or even worse. She has had successes, but she has also had her failures.

It all started when her mother committed suicide...

This is an incredibly complex, multi-stranded, novel, and I'm sure that occasionally I literally lost the plot, but that was my fault rather than the author's. But something just keeps you reading, because you really want Billie to succeed.
