Great story line of a man, Gus, whose main desire in life is to run a circus. The characters that surround him are each given life through Thomas W. Duncan's wonderful ability to use words to paint people.

Just as in real life some you like, some you would not want to associate with.

The story starts late in Gus's (Augustus H. Burgoyne's) life. 1938 to be exact. Then jumps back in time a bit to introduce some main characters. Finally jumps back to just before the birth of a baby boy whose unwed parents leave him to a bad start in life.

Gus overcomes the bad start, realizes his dreams of owning a circus but... The characteristics that formed his youth crop up and... But I don't want to spoil it for you. Book can be had inexpensively through online auctions and booksellers.
