Its pages are warped and moldy now, but this is the book which introduced me to Eisley, Ballard, Best and Zelazny ("For a Breath I Tarry,)" Silverberg and Ellison ("I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream"), Leiber, Delaney, and Simak ("Desertion").

The book is edited as a compilation of forward-leaning factual essays in the ferment of the early 70s, and some leading edge SF writers (Ballard, Bester, Clarke, Ellison, Delany, more).
And there was some sort of computer connection, via the ILLIAC 4 (don't ask because I don't remember the Preface). Would probably seem bogus today with computers ubiquitous, but then it added to the novelty and credibility of the project.… (mais)
