Although this is the second in the series it is not necessary to read the first book as it is summarised where necessary.
Six weeks previously LAPD detective Matt Jones had been shot chasing serial killer Dr. George Baylor. Now the FBI believe he is out on the Eat coast and recruit Jones on a temporary basis to track Baylor down.
I really liked the story and the style of writing, and the character of Jones, even the politics and the backstabbing that everybody seems to be doing. I look forward to going back and reading the first book.
A NetGalley Book.

Matt Jones is called in early before his first day as a Homicide detective in LA to investigate a violent killing. His supervisor Grace believes it is the work of the serial robber that has been haunting the area. Jones believes otherwise and that leads to a lot of trouble.
I really enjoyed this story.

The book is using a serial killer as the vehicle to talk about the CIA and its business of bringing drugs from South America into the US to finance its various political interferences. Some interesting stuff, but it drags on a bit.

Lame.

I think watching detective shows and reading James Patterson has really spoiled me. Just didn't enjoy this book. It started out really well, but went down hill. Plot was weak. I think this could have been a fantastic book, but the author wasn't sure of the story he wanted to tell.
