This review was written for LibraryThing Early Reviewers.

I love Prufrock Press titles and highly recommend them to all teachers across grad level and other aspects of the learning spectrum.
Awesome teacher resource!
The organization of content is user friendly as always well organized. I am particular fond of this set of literacy analysis tools for use in today's modern diverse classroom.
Project-based instructional strategies are where it is!

I had put this book in my already reviewed pile, but it seems the review never got to its destination. So, I will try again. When I read this, I am not sure that I would hve been up to what is required of students today. I grew freely looking into the ideas that are brought up in this volume, but I planned my own course. I like the wide-ranging looks at various literature and the exploration of conformity. I probably was a nonconformist, so I would not have pursued conformity as something to read about.

When I did review this before, I was a little disturbed that the authors used the short version of bibliographical reference. Doing it in an annotated way would have shown some love for where they are trying to lead students. The first written piece in the book, "The Parable of the Poisoned Well", does not indicate who the author of it was or its source if anonymous.

The end of the book is filled with super-technical stuff about Common Core Alignments, which is a big puzzle. But this does not detract from the authors that the students re introduced to, such as Kurt Vonnegut, Ray Bradbury, Maya Angelou, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Henry David Thoreau.

We found this book to contain a decent range of educational material for the intended student grade. Overall it is a good resource and one we can recommend for those looking for an alternate option or for home-school students.

the contents of this book are easy to read and well organized. each chapter has a listing of materials needed, goals and objectives, questions that can be used for literary analysis and handouts for the classroom. it is aimed at high achievers but I believe the information could be applied to any classroom at any level just by a bit of modification.
